Welcome to Vale do Lobo…

….Vale do Lobo was the first development in the Algarve, and has been here for over 50 years.

It is five minutes from the local village/town of Almancil, 10 minutes from the traditional Portuguese town of Loule, and 20 minutes from Faro International Airport.

Lots of the amenities here are within walking distance, and our villa ownership entitles us to free access to the pool, as well as discounts on food and drink. Find out more below.

Beach

The beach is a four-minute walk from the villa. You can use all our beach towels, beach chairs and parasols, buckets and spades and bodyboards. You can also hire sunbeds and parasols, for around £26 a day, from the Well Beach Club (which also offers a full food and drink service - including food, icecream and drinks - to your sunbed). The Algarve cosastline is situated in the Atlantic, so it’s a bracing swim (!), and waves can get high during windy weather; but it’s great for swimming and bodyboarding and children love playing in the waves.

Pool

The pool is also a four-minute walk from the villa, situated on the praça (‘square’ in Portuguese). There is a lower, shallow pool that forms part of the Well Restaurant and is available to anyone dining at Well, from 12pm till late. Then above this is a vast circular pool with plenty of sunloungers, daybeds, a bar and restaurant, and a baby pool area. It normally costs 30 Euros a day but our villa membership gets you in for free, full details will be sent when you book.

For kids

Aside from the pool and beach, and a waterpark just ten mins away, there is Crazy Golf down by the beach, as well as a kids club - Par-Tee - with water fountains, a playground, table football, movie nights and a fish and chip truck. Evening entertainment at the praça includes live music, bouncy castles, face-painting and hair-braiding.

Shopping

Pingo Doce supermarket in Vale do Lobo is a three-minute drive away, and is great for basics. Apolonia in Almancil (eight mins) has a wide selection of quality and local foods; there is also an Aldi and plenty of other shops. Loule (15 mnins) is a beautiful Portuguese town with cobbled streets and plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants. It has a traditional covered fish and vegetable market from Tuesday - Saturday, with the best market being on Saturday morning, featuring traditional artisans and crafts, local honey, spices, meats, cheese, flowers and vegetables and fruit. Vale do Lobo golf club also has a brilliant wine shop and a women’s clothing store.

Eating Out

Around the praça - five mins walk from the villa - there are several restaurants - serving everything from pizza and steaks to sushi and sandwiches. There is also a creperie serving icecream, waffles and pancakes. Plenty have views over the beach, or to the live music and evening entertainment. Around Vale do Lobo, Almancail and Quinta da Logo are wonderful restaurants, serving fresh, local fish and traditional Portuguese dishes. Many of them have dedicated kids menus and cater for children really well. In addition, Uber Eats delivers from many local restaurants right to the villa.
